About NCNAPNAP

The North Carolina Chapter of NAPNAP is a subsidiary group of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. The mission statement of NAPNAP is "to provide a professional home for pediatric nurse practitioners and specialty nurses in advanced practice providing primary health care to infants, children, and adolescents and their families. NAPNAP accomplishes this through providing a voice, advocacy, and professional development toward improved health care for clients." NAPNAP was founded in 1973 as a non-profit specialty nursing organization devoted to improving the quality of infant and child health care. The pediatric nurse practitioner provides an advanced level of care to children and their families, including: counseling on normal development and behavioral problems, the prevention of illness and preventable injuries, and care of children with acute or chronic conditions. NAPNAP promotes high standards of child health care through education, research, and legislative action involving over 5,500 members in 47 chapters across the country. Our activities include:
  • monitoring health legislation
  • affecting maternal child care
  • serving in an advisory capacity to state boards of nursing
  • producing and distributing materials to educate consumers on child care
  • providing opportunities and funding for continuing education of PNPs
  • submission of testimony on issues affecting child health care and nurse practitioner practices

The Chapter was formed to provide local support for those members residing in North Carolina. Support includes practice updates, regular seminars, continuing education classes and credits, and important news of legislative changes. Anyone wishing to become a member of NC NAPNAP may fill out our online form.
